Pant Soars to Career-Best Ranking, Bumrah Retains Top Spot in Latest ICC Test Rankings
The latest ICC Test rankings showcase significant movement following a week of compelling performances in both Test and T20I cricket. Rishabh Pant of India and Ben Duckett of England are the notable climbers, achieving new career-high positions after impactful displays in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings after his remarkable twin centuries at Headingley. The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman scored 134 and 118, becoming only the second wicketkeeper in Test history, after Andy Flower of Zimbabwe in 2001, to achieve hundreds in both innings of a match. Pant also becomes the first Indian wicket-keeper batter to reach 800 rating points in Test history.
Joe Root remains the top-ranked Test batter, while Harry Brook of England maintains the second position. India’s Shubman Gill has advanced, moving up five places to 20th after his elegant century in the first innings.
India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, continues to hold the No. 1 position in the Test bowling rankings following another five-wicket haul at Headingley, emphasizing his dominance with the red ball. Ben Stokes of England has climbed three places to secure the No. 5 spot in the Test all-rounder rankings, marking his highest position in recent months, after contributing effectively with both bat and ball.
In the T20I rankings, significant changes have occurred following the tri-series in Glasgow, involving the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland. Michael Levitt, the Dutch batter, has jumped 16 places to 14th after a series of consistent performances. Brandon McMullen of Scotland has also made an impression, rising 20 spots to joint 38th.
The ICC rankings remain a key indicator of individual talent, with every run and wicket influencing the evolving hierarchy of cricket.
